Hello Everyone! I need advice on whether or not to go ahead and apply this time around.

I'm retaking the DAT at the end of October because of the 90 day wait period. Should I wait until I take the retake to send in applications (OCT) or should I go ahead and send the application now before I retake it. I got an 18 TS and 19AA the first time, but I received terrible QR and GC scores, but did wonderful in Bio, OC, and RC.

Please let me know if this is too late and I should wait until next cycle to apply.

Bio-22 OC-20 RC-21 PAT-17 GC-15 QR-15 my overall gpa is a 3.64 and I believe my science is between a 3.3-3.45 not completely sure.

I've shadowed a few dentists and orthodontist for around 50+ hours and I've been a volunteer dental assistant at a dental clinic, participated in the Mission of Mercy free dental clinic.

I am also a member of a sorority where I am the Health Chair so I plan all health related events for Breast Cancer Awareness, Diabetes Awareness and so on.

Where are you from? If it's NC (although I realize other states have MoM clinics), I think your stats would have a shot with ECU, especially if you've done lots of community service stuff.

Hopefully it works out for you this cycle, however Bluefield College is opening a dental school that you can apply to next year. It's mission (community, service oriented) is similar to ECU's... In fact one of the associate deans from ECU was named interim dean.

I think 15 is low for GC. not sure about QR. 50+ hours of volunteer is too low IMO. If i were you i would retake the DAT and work on those volunteer hours more.

agreed...and October is very late to be submitting an application. If you take the DAT in october, your app probably wont be ready and processed in November=Too late in my opinion.

Well I just calculated my hours I have around 81 hours of shadowing and volunteering and close to 100 in general volunteering for other causes. Is that still low?

If I decided to apply should I send my app before I complete the retake and just put my future test date in the app?

If you do decide to apply I would for sure submit right now and tell schools you will be retaking...However, a lot of schools will put your app on hold until the new tests scores come in which would still make it really late in the cycle. Your shadowing and volunteer hours are good but keep volunteering. It is up to you if you apply this year.
