I applied to the University of Illinois @ Chicago as a non-resident. After applying, I found on their website the following info:

Non-resident applicants who do not meet these minimum standards will not be considered for admission.
A science GPA 3.5/4.0 or better
A cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 or better
A DAT Academic score of 20 or better
A DAT Perceptual Ability score of 20 or better

My GPAs are 3.66 sci and 3.61 overall. DAT scores are 17 academic and 18 perceptual.

I just got a letter in the mail requesting a $40 application fee. Should I send it??

I'd call them up and ask them if they think your DAT scores are competitive.

I'll second that notion. Websites are often not up-to-date, and even then there are always unique decisions made during the application cycle. Calling can't hurt anything.

I am almost 100 percent sure that this years class was made up of all in state residents.

The point: You have to have at least a 20 and a gpa around where you are at to be considered.

From what I hear (as an in state resident and after talking to Ann Shorrock) is that the most they will take is between 1-5 out of state residents each year.

Even in state requirements are pretty high due to sheer numbers of applicants from IL (although they are a little bit more lenient on GPA). DAT avg is very high, especially for it being a state school (around 19's)

The moral: I guess you can call Ann, but if I were you I wouldn't waste my $40 because they take so few out of staters.

Just my $.02 (also realize I am not a dental student yet, so take it with a grain of salt)

Those stats are pretty accurate for my class (D1, 2008). There aren't any out of state students in my class, and there is only one out of state student in the D2 class. They get alot of out of state applications for only one or two spots, so you might want to look into another school. Best of luck.

I have applied to many more...this was just one of my options. Thanks for the advice guys.
