I want to know the admission rates for in-state/out-of-state students at various med schools. Does MSAR have this information? Is this information somewhere online?

To answer your question. Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Does your school have a pre-health department? Do you have a pre-med advisor? If you do, they ususally always have a copy that you could borrow. It would save you money.

i have this book
and it has proved useful to me

it has many statistics related to cost, acceptance, etc
it gives descriptions of curriculum and other aspects of each school as well

i was lazy and didnt wanna search all the schools websites for this info

but this book is by no means NECESSARY
as probably all info can be found going to web sites oof the schools

i personally just thought it was a hassle and bought it

all college and decent public libraries have this book. usually multiple copies - one you can check out and one they keep on hand in the library. by all means use the MSAR, but i wouldn't think it is necessary to buy it. i didn't.

No. It was a waste of money for me since I already have a subscription to USnews.com. The online subscription was $10 and you can do searches by a whole bunch of factors (MCAT ranges, GPA, location, etc.) I guess I might just be more of a computer person, but flipping through the MSAR, I got no additional information that was useful to me. Sure it was interesting to see the graphs for acceptance levels, but by no means did this stuff help me in choosing schools to apply to. Big waste of money IMO.

I bought it, and found it helpful. However, I don't think it gave me any information I could not have found elsewhere or for free.

you'll notice that the numbers on MSAR dont necessarily match up with the numbers on US News. Things that make you go hmmm.
