I am currently in my last year of Pre-pharmacy and ready to apply for pharmacy school. I worked at a retail pharmacy as a tech I think the material that I'm learning now is interesting and I like the idea of pharmacy, but I just hate standing all day long on my feet!!! I heard many pharmacists get varicose veins from standing.

I have also heard many bad things about the future of pharmacy, such as that mail order pharmacies will impact the number of jobs in pharmacy, and the oversaturation of pharmacists, I even heard that many graduates cannot pay back their loans because they can't find a job.

Here are my questions:
1. Are these enough reasons to quit pursuing pharmacy?
2. Are there enough jobs out there right now for pharmacy graduates?
3. Do hospital pharmacists have to stand all day like the retail pharmacists?

The pharmacy application deadline is in two weeks, I don't know whether I should apply or not! Please help me!!

1. Are these enough reasons to quit pursuing pharmacy?
you can't expect us to answer that for you.
2. Are there enough jobs out there right now for pharmacy graduates?
no
3. Do hospital pharmacists have to stand all day like the retail pharmacists?
mostly no

Here are my questions:
1. Are these enough reasons to quit pursuing pharmacy?

Pharmacy school is a commitment and you won't be changing your career very quickly once you graduate if you find you won't enjoy it. What you've seen as a tech is what you can expect from retail. Go read the threads in the pharmacy forum and see what they're saying about it. Make your own decision about joining. As for standing up all day, I believe it's healthier than sitting at a desk staring at a computer all day. We're made to be up moving around, just make sure you have some very comfy shoes and you continue to work out. It's never been a problem for me on the job.

TL😀R Only you can make the decision to quit or push through, no one can answer it for you.

2. Are there enough jobs out there right now for pharmacy graduates?

There are jobs out there, but it's not like what it used to be. Now you have to actually be competitive or be willing to relocate, but it's no worse than any other market and it's much better than some.

3. Do hospital pharmacists have to stand all day like the retail pharmacists?

From my rotation experiences there is less standing in the hospital pharmacy. Again though, sitting all day isn't a good thing.
