My Personal Statement was cut off by a few words when I submitted my application. On secondaries that have room for optional info, should I bring it up and put what the sentence should have read? Thanks

Jeff

How many words did it cut off? Why did you submit it if you went over?

In any case, last year when the AMCAS program turned all of my apostrophes and commas into question marks I printed out a good copy of my personal statement and sent one to each school I applied to along with a short letter explaining what the AMCAS program did to my personal statement. At most interviews they acknowledged that the amcas application did that to a lot of people's personal statement and they just overlook it. However, you went over the 5300 character limit. I don't think it will be that big of a deal but it doesn't make you look that great. I would send a full copy of the personal statement to each school you are applying to.

How important is the sentence? How much was cut off? I wouldn't worry about it if it was just a couple words and the general meaning of the sentence was obvious. But if the sentence was really important (like why you want to be a doctor) maybe you could just repeat it in one of your essays if it made sense in the context of one of the questions/essays. I doubt it's a big deal.

thanks for the replies......It was the last couple words of my PS.....I don't have a response to why I didn't check it.....I had read it over so many times, I thought it was fine.....any more thoughts?

Thanks
Jeff

If it is a couple of words I don't think it will matter. I'd still send a complete copy with a letter explaining that AMCAS cut off the statement to tie up any loose ends.
