Should I get the new edition of Lipincott Pharmacology?

The new (2011) edition of Lipincott's Pharmacology is $55. An older edition (2008) is selling for $10 used in very good condition. Should I get the 2011 edition or will the 2008 be fine? Also are there any Pharm flashcards you would recommend me to get?

I looked into Pharm books quite a bit before settling on a few. I think Lippincott's is ok, but there are better books:

Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, Twelfth Edition
- The bible of pharm. Probably too detailed for medical students but great reference and some schools have free online access.

Katzung & Trevor's Pharmacology Examination and Board Review, Ninth Edition (McGraw-Hill Specialty Board Review)
- Probably the best review book, slightly edging out Lippincott

Basic and Clinical Pharmacology 12/E (Katzung)
- A fleshed out version of the review book, probably the best of both worlds since you likely won't need to read a pharm review book cover to cover

Lange Pharmacology Flash Cards
- Probably the best flashcards for Step 1 level (not too detailed but good enough)

I looked at Lippincott's because their biochem book is excellent but I don't think Lippincott illustrated reviews have any other high quality books.

With all that said, I think the old edition would be fine but neither may be best.👍

I think the old one is fine, but I personally would just get a used copy of Katzung. Much better book, imo.

i don't have any experience with katzung, but I do with Lippincott and BRS pharm......Lippincott without question

I used Lippincott, FA, and Raymon's lectures for pharm and felt extremely well prepared during MS2 and boards. I opened Katzung a few times but it seemed way too detailed. I have the 5th edition of Lippincott

I forgot to specify, don't get big Katzung. Get the examination and board review version. Big Katzung is a HUGE waste of time.
