Hi, please forgive me if this question has been asked here before but I just discovered SDN. My freshman year, I was in the same room as alcohol and instead of sending me to the dean to be disciplined, I was given the option of attending a 30 minute class on the effects of alcohol with a counselor. Upon successful completion of the session, I was informed that no record of any incident would be kept by the university. Furthermore, my institution deletes all disciplinary records immediately upon graduation if you didn't do something serious such as cheat or plagiarize.

When completing my primary application, I was told by the student conduct office that they will report to medical schools that I have no retained disciplinary record; furthermore, my school stated via phone that they do not consider the class to be a disciplinary sanction (only occurs if you fail to attend the education class). I recently got an invite to interview at a school and they require a Dean's conduct report.

Does this "class" constitute an IA that I should've reported on my primary? If so, should I write a letter to the schools I've already applied to and indicate to them of my lapse in judgement and apologize for not initially disclosing it? I'm worried that I possibly misrepresented myself in my primary application and I'm not entirely sure what my next steps should be.

Your school told you that you don't have a disciplinary record. The school told you that the class was not an IA.They planned these policies precisely so good students like you don't end up punished for a minor lapse in judgement. Let it all go.... the school provided you with an educational opportunity rather than punishment, you took the opportunity and you do not have a disciplinary record.

Go in peace.
