  1. Medical Student (Accepted)
Hi guys, I applied to 10 schools, I've had 3 IIs so far and 1 acceptance. I ranked the schools 1-10 based on how much I liked them. My acceptance is from school #4, and I also interviewed at the schools I ranked 5 and 6.

I just got an interview invite from school #9, but I don't know if I should go or not. I can barely afford another plane ticket and I need to pay my credit card debt asap. But I know that I'll get a better feel for the school if I visit and interview. The chances that I end up liking #9 more than school #4 are slim, but at what point is it ok to not attend an interview? If I didn't have an acceptance I would go, but I don't know if I'm being cheap or smart in this situation.

If money is an issue, attending the interview may not be worth it since you are already accepted.

As long as you have meaningful reasons behind the ranking (location, quality of rotations, affiliations with large hospitals, curriculum alignment, etc.), then I'm all for it. If however, you used match lists, average GPA/MCAT or some random ranking list, I'd find a way to attend the interview. I'm sorry, I'm a skeptic at heart, and pre-meds ranking medical schools is always hit or miss for me (I was guilty of using the latter).

Thank you! I used the right reasons, and another thing is that the new II has a HUGE class size and way more students per faculty. I'd rather be in a smaller program with more mentors.

I'm inclined to say pass on the interview.

What is the school by the way?

If you have an acceptance from a school you ranked higher than the one you got an II to, why go? Skip it.

The possibility of more scholarship money from the worse school could be a decent reason

How far are you from PA? Is it possible for you to drive or take a train? If so, I would go if for no other reason than to be sure about your decision. If not, don't worry about it. You're already safe with your acceptance.

Far...
