This is pretty much a desperate measure on my part because I dont have the most impressive EC background in college. I've held a couple philanthropy positions in my fraternity but Im not a part of any other clubs, community service organizations or anything.

I did however hold a position in Interact club (a community service club) in high school as well as other leadership programs. Is this worth mentioning or does it make my app look even worse because I can only name high school ECs?

I think you should mention them if they are very significant. Otherwise, I think you should just leave those highschool EC out.

I did mention High school ECs but only because I won Science fair at both county and state level. I figure it would be more significant than most other ECs during your HS.

I used some only because I still continue them to this day. I did not list any that I started and ended in H.S. Like previous posts, only list very significant ones because using high school ec's shows a lack of involvement in college.

I was a volunteer ski instructor in high school and part of college, I listed the dates going back into high school.

Yeah I thought it would make me look bad too. Thanks for the input everyone

Hi All,

Is being an ASB (Student Body) President at all significant enough to include? Thanks for the input.

hmm I mentioned that I volunteered at a church as a teacher. But I volunteered starting end of senior year to beginning of my freshman year in college. I guess that counts as highschool experience as well!

DS are more interested in decisions you made as a young adult than as a teen in hs.

i think that if you are able to talk about your experience more in depth... say in an interview then go on ahead.

it all depends if you got anything significant out of it, right?
