I need some advice.
Does applying ED to my state school sound like the best idea? I applied this past year RD with a 27R (8, 10, 9) and 3.63O/3.58S with little volunteering/clinical experience and got waitlisted. My waitlist rank sucks and I have no chance of getting in.
Now, I want to reapply ED with my same GPA and 28R (8, 10, 10). The state school's averages are about 3.75O, 3.65S, and 28.4 (9.2, 9.8, 9.4). They love reapplicants and are obsessed with volunteering and clinical experience.
Over this last year, I volunteered fulltime and got clinical experience in the process as well as did research at this school's med school. My MCAT only went up 1 pt, which is lame because I was expecting in the 30s considering my AAMCs were mid-30s errrr.
Now to give you some background on my ED chances. I will be granted an automatic interview because I meet certain minimum MCAT+GPA numbers and they accept 60% of ED interviewees.
I've been in continual contact with the Dean of Admissions and she highly recommends that I apply ED.
Is there any reason not to ED? I know it ruins my chances applying at other MD schools, but I'm not going to receive any other interviews with my MCAT even if I apply broadly. Trust me, I learned that the hard way this year.
The question remains...should I apply to DO schools now as well? SDNers assure me that it is legal to apply ED to an MD school and apply DO at the sametime, but I feel it is dishonest.
Anyone?
