Looking for advice,
DO student who got 546 on Comlex I and 524 Comlex 2 passed PE. Did 6 audition rotations across the country, got a B on the very first one then As on the rest. Got great feedback from two of the auditions saying I was a top applicant for their program etc. Applied to 10 AOA programs and 40 ACGME programs. Got 7 interviews, ranked them all. No "red flags" that I know of. I did not match EM, got a TRI/prelim medicine intership at my home hospital.
Should I even try matching into EM again next cycle? (I read somewhere a intern year can be a red flag) Or should I switch to IM and go intk CC?
I emailed a PD I had good rapport with for advice. Plan on taking the USMLE (though I applied to DO friendly hospitals that didn't require I have the USMLE).
Have good amount of research experience but can do more for intern year.
Thanks

I would think that, at this stage, doing well on the USMLE Step 1 will be quite difficult. You will be worrying about doing well in your intern year and won't have that much time to study all the factoids you need to know for Step 1. Also, I don't see why an intern year would be a red flag.
Will you be able to do any rotations as an intern in EM? That might be your best chance to get a new SLOE and boost your app.
