I really dont want to retake the DAT but I'm really getting worried. I'm applying for the 2006 cycle. I have seen all of the scores of most SDNers and its begining to freak me out. Do I even stand a fighting chance among all the other applicants in the applicant pool? Here are my stats:

Cum GPA: 3.60
Sci. GPA: 3.65

AA:18 BIO:19 GCHEM:19 OCHEM:19 RC:17 QR:15 PAT:17

I submitted my AADSAS application on June 3.
I'm a Washington state resident .
Schools that I have applied to: UW,Case,NYU,BU,Tufts,Nova,Indiana,Temple,Marquette,UNLV,Loma Linda,Arizona,Hawaii,Creighton.

I have 2 of my LOR's from Dentists that I have shadowed that are graduates from Creighton (will this help any?)

folks on SDN are not an accurate sample of the applicant pool. your numbers are good and i'm sure at least one of the 14 schools you applied to will offer you a spot!

your scores are very good (as you should realize by your percentile). Most of those on sdn have above average scores b/c they are the more prepared students. If you think you can do better next time, and want the reassurance, then retake the dat. If you are happy with what you got, then dont. 🙂

yeah but many SDN'ers are two-bit hyperprepared incompetent *****s who can't lookup/follow simple application directions and send it off without massive mental duress and trauma.

to the OP: Your scores provided you apply early and you dont' screw up the interview, should get you in somewhere.

those scores are esentially mine...my gpa was a 3.5 tho, a bit lower than yours. i will be attending umdnj fall 2005. i think your scores are completely fine, esp. bc your gpa is higher than a lot of people's w better DAT scores. essentially it is all relative. i wouldn't touch the scores, apply early and you will get in. unless a specific school tells you otherwise...for ex, temple wants a 19 AA...then you will get in no problem.

believe me, you will get a notification for interview from BU soon, after your application gets processed. Your numbers are over-qualified to cross their interview barrier.

Just relax! Here are some of my comments:
Your GPA = 3.60 and DAT = 18 are above the average of acceptances. Your QR = 15 is a borderlined point (lucky you!) and won't hurt you because it is considered to be a piece of cake for everyone. If you desparately want to get in UW, then you need to get a 19AA with an advance of your Washington state resident.
Here is my suggestion: Right now, you should send out your DAT score to AADSAS and dental schools. Later, if you think you could improve your DAT score, then take it but shouldn't report it to any school, even AADSAS until you have a better score in your hand. This score won't be known until the next cycle. This [DAT] is a way to IMPROVE your chance to get in, besides getting good grades on your courses in advance.

Other- you could add Louisville to your list! It accepts a large number of out state resident.

About Creighton- it joins the AADSAS, so it gets the LoR's like other schools. How could your dentists identify themselves to be Creighton alumni in their LoR because other schools don't want to know it? You have to think another way to dislose it with Creighton.
