This question has been bothering me for a while, so I want to ask others to get an opinion. I could not attach my scores but here they are:

Perceptual Ability: 22 (93.4 Percentile)
QR: 22 (97.9 Percentile)
RC: 22 (84.4 Percentile)
Biology: 17 (49.2 Percentile)
Gen Chem: 18 (62.2 Percentile)
O Chem: 18 (59.7 Percentile)
Total Science: 18 (63 Percentile)
Academic Average: 19 (77.6 Percentile)

I will be applying for the 2014 rotation and I currently have a 3.27 oGPA, 3.21 sGPA. My concern is that I need to have a higher Total Science due to my lower GPA. As for extra-curriculars, I think I have killed that. I have a lot of experience in leadership positions. Also, I have over 120 hours of shadowing and have 4 great recommendation letters.

I have been studying daily using the DAT 8 week study guide (completed about a week of it already)... I think I can do better with my Total Science, but am concerned that "what if I don't." I am dedicated to studying but am wondering if the payoff is worth it.. Will getting a 21 instead of a 19 on my Academic Average really make that big of a difference.

I do know if I should continue or just be satisfied with the DAT scores that I have. I would really appreciate any and all help!!

Honestly speaking, I think you need to retake it. The reason I say that is from personal experience, because the last time I took it I got an 18 TS and I have a higher GPA than you and I didn't get any interviews. Although no one can tell you your going to get in or your not going to get in with those scores. Only the schools can decide that, so I'm not saying your definitely not getting in with those scores, your asking and I'm just replying. However, personally I know 2 people who got into dental school last year with a 16, YES a 16 AA, so that goes to show you that anything can happen. I would prepare myself for a retake. Good Luck

Hmm. I know your scores arent super high but I dont think they are that bad either. Do keep in mind that the average score is little more than a 19 though so your still pretty close. However, your GPA is on the lower end too, so if you honestly think you can do better, go for retake. I would analyse what you used to study. Did you just use your class notes or Kaplan or did you use like Chads vids or Destroyer. If you truly feel you did everything and used a lot of good resources and still got these scores, then dont go for retake. If you honestly do feel you can do better, then go for a retake and consider investing in good resources. Look through these forms for the best ones that fit your budget. Maybe you struggle in science or some topics that are heavily tested in science? Tackle those weakspots for your retest if you do opt for retake.

Also, when did you take your exam? I know some ppl take it while they were busy with too many other things, like finals, classes, research, job, what not, so they dont give DAT all their time. That may have also contributed to your scores as well.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. You know yourself better than anyone else. Hope it works out well for you this cycle! =)
