Hello guys!!!!

I took my DAT and scored well (AA20/PA21) but I messed up on one of the sections, RC. I was wondering if I should retake the DAT or not? NOTE: English is my second language and I have a 3.75 GPA with research experience of two years in the dental school. I'm applying in the upcoming cycle (2015).

Here are my results:

PA: 21
QR: 20
RC: 16 🙁🙁
BIO: 21
GC: 21
OC: 21
TS: 21
AA 20

Any thoughts would be appreciated! I'm kinda stuck here.

Thanks!!!

Hi Saif66, Your science scores are very nice and you have a fantastic 3.75 gpa. Your gpa shows that you are a hard working student. From my experience if English is the 2nd language most schools take that into consideration. Students I have worked with have been accepted into dental schools with lower reading scores under those circumstances. Because your overall scores are excellent, I think you have an excellent chance for acceptance. Just make sure if you are asked during an interview why your reading score was low to have a well thought out response.

Good luck in the process and keep us posted.

take care..nancy

You have good scores. Make sure you have good letters of recommendation and solid personal statement. I assume you have lots of shadowing/volunteering hours. You should get some interviews. Goof luck.

Thank you Nancy for the response. I will make sure to come up with a good response for the interview. I was kinda worried, but now I feel a lot better.

I don't have that much volunteering nut I'm taking a gab year so I'm going to be working on that during that time.

I'd die to have your scores and gpa🙂
Haha its not too hard if out your mind into it. I got DAT destroyer, bootcamp, and cliffs and they prepared me really well for the exam. One advice DON'T GET KAPLAN!!! it is a waist of money and time, However you want to search the net for some of the tricks they use (SDN is a great website to find this information) and you will be set.

Hold of on retaking it. Your scores are solid. You might get some interviews.
