Hey all-
I know the whole mantra of "the earlier the better" when it comes to getting together the AMCAS app, but I've got a bit of an interesting twist here. One of my work/activities has a bit of a snag in it. I'm the president of our Tau Beta Pi (engineering honors society) chapter for next year, but due to some paperwork issues, I'm not officially a member in the national organization. I should have this fixed within a week or so, but my question is this: When AMCAS verifies your application, do they check on things like that? The last thing I want is for them to basically say "Yeah, not only is he not the president, he's not even a member". I'm fairly sure that wouldn't look good to med schools 😀. Should I wait until this is fixed or should I just send it out?

Cheers,
Jarrod

AMCAS is definitely NOT going to be checking in to that. If anything, the individual med schools would check on that (although they probably wouldn't even bother). I would definitely go ahead and submit because your app wont be verified for a few weeks so that would allow the problem to get fixed by the time med schools actually look at it.

Fastest reply I've seen in a while!

Thanks guys!

Believe me, medical school adcoms do not have the time to check anything in your application. Definitely don't fib, because this will be clear in interviews when they ask you questions about certain experiences and you'll have clearly fake answers. Even if they did check, could you seriously see a committee being upset that your registration wasn't complete at an organization even if you were a leader in it?

sorry for stealing this thread OP!

I am wondering if I should submit my AMCAS now or later. I will be taking my MCAT 7/31, and the score wont come out until 9/1.
