Should I submit now to all my schools with a 3.75c/3.7s 24 mcat? I am taking the mcat June 20th, and expect a higher score (hopefully 500+).

i have read that I should apply to "lower tier" schools and then expand my application when I get my new score.... What do does sdn think?

Thank you all for your time

I believe that Winnie the Pooh can score a 500+.

As far as what "do does sdn think", that is too complicated a question for me to understand.

But yes you should apply to lower tier schools and then expand afterwards.

Thank you that's what I thought..

. But I'm not quite sold, what disadvantage would it be to apply everywhere with a 24 then update the schools later??

Thats a tad bit complicated. Perhaps someone else can help you on that one.

Possibly a huge disadvantage if schools have secondary cutoffs at 25 or higher. I wouldn't apply to those schools with high MCAT averages. For the OP, I would apply now for schools that are within reach with that old MCAT, and then when the new MCAT comes in with a better score, add the schools that have higher MCAT averages.

This way, you won't be screened out.

Apply to a "throw-away" school to get verified, and then when your score comes in, apply fully. The DO cycle is longer than MD, and so even waiting until Nove won't hurt you.

This is what I did last MD cycle. Applied to my state school to get verified while I was waiting until my scores got back from a June MCAT (first time). Then I used my score to determine what schools to apply to. Most schools (I applied MD, but I'm sure it's similar) won't really give your app a hard look if they know you're yet to take or are scheduled to take the MCAT again.

As multiple have already said on this forum, including Goro, you should apply to your throw away schools and then once receiving your updated MCAT score, figure out where to expand your school list. The main reason you do not want to apply to all your designated schools with your current score is because your MCAT score might be considered too low for certain schools, and after looking at your application they will simple "pass" on your application. Like many people have said, the DO cycle is typically longer, and why look back on a previous candidate when they are receiving close to 6000+ applications. Therefore, you want to make a fantastic "first" impression on the administrator by showing your finest application initially. Therefore you only want to submit to throw away schools to get your application verified.
