Should I take biochem before starting optometry school?

Are there any current optometry students who can tell me if taking biochem before graduation in May will be a huge benefit once I start optometry school in the fall? I currently have it scheduled for next semester. None of the schools I am considering (IU, MCPHS, PCO, Ferris) require it, but would it be smart to take it now so I have some foundation I can build upon later?
