Hi everyone, I was wondering if I should retake the DATS in Jan?

My current scores (08/07/10) are:
PAT: 18
QR: 14
RC: 19
Bio:19
GChem: 21
OChem: 18
Total science: 19
AA: 18

I am in a 18 month masters program and applied in late August. However, I feel like I am not competitive with these scores. I got an invite in post-dec to Indiana Dental school and if they like me, then I will be on the alternate list. I am still waiting to hear from other schools I applied to. Do you think I should retake the DAT if I dont get in this time around? Thanks!

Honestly, probably yes. Last year I applied with a QR of 14 and got two interviews. My other scores were actually better than yours and my GPA is 3.88. And I didn't get in. I thought I was competitive as well especially since I got those interviews shortly after taking the DAT but alas here I am reapplying again.

I don't mean to disappoint you or anything but feel it out and it's pretty much too late anyway for this cycle for a retake anyway so you might as well give it a shot. But if you don't get in plan on a retake next summer cause it's in my opinion that a QR of 14 is a huge red flag and you'll probably need to bring it up.

Thank you for the advice! I plan on retaking the DATS and I guess studying with the math destroyer should do it.

It all depends on how well you do in the interview. Once you land an interview they have gone over every inch of your app. I have a 14 in QR and no schools mentioned it (4 interviews so far), including Indiana. I spoke with the Dean of Admissions there, and he said that after you get an interview the most important part of their decision making is how you perform during the interview. So you still have a great chance, but I am also retaking just to make sure that I don't leave it up in the air. Good luck!

Are you sure it was your 14 soul? With your gpa and if all other areas were solid and 2 interviews.. it may have been something different. Did you ever contact the schools?
