Hey guys, I am in a pickle! I took the DAT once in December and again in June. I ended up doing even worse on the one in June! I was told that the DAT Destroyer has numerous questions derived straight from the test. This was a lie!!!! I used it as my main source of studying the second time and I did not even recognize 1 question!

I would like to know if it would be beneficail to take it again in September or would that be too late.

Also, does anyone know how the DAT scores are tabulated? Everyone I have spoken to has taken a completely different test. So do the percentiles then represent all the tests or just the one I took? Either way seems unfair because the statistics would be different depending on when you took the test.

What the hell did you, just memorize the questions in destroyer. That was stupid. Firstly i do not believe that not one question in destroyer came back. Secondly, did you read every answer in the destroyer as well as all the questions, i would guess not. Finally I would suggest starting with Kaplans and once you understand everything in Kaplans go to destroyer and make sure that you understand how to do every single problem and you carefully read through every single solution. Read cliffs or schaumms and you should be golden for the sciences. For the math just do all math that you can get your hands on and for the PAT, Crack. You gotta study seriously or you will not have a prayer.

Hmmm also strange that he has taken DAT twice and has only 1 post. It seems like he knows this site a littl better than 1 posts worth. Something is fishy.

Lots of people lurk around and read many posts before they sign up. I did the same thing. 😀

destroyer is more of a teaching book.......it touches upon topics that can and probably will show up, rather than giving you direct questions. When studying if you dont understand a topic post here and get answered or look it up in a text book........good luck!

Doritos, why cant you receive PM's.😉 Did you figure it out yet???

If you actually understood all the concepts tested in Destroyer, you should have gotten at least a 19.

How did you do exactly?

I think posting your scores would help us decide whether you should retake or not. Assuming the worst and the fact you did even worse the second try (which from my understanding raises a red flag to admissions officers) probably means that a retake would be a good idea.

Thanks for the advice guys. I got a 16 overall and no I did not memorize the destroyer, I studied it side by side with the Kaplan online and I put extra emphasis on the concepts that came up most often on the destroyer. I'm not trying to blame the destroyer, but those concepts that I focused on such as solubility, taxonomy, probability etc.. did not seem come up so often and if they did they were in a completely different format.
I have indeed decided to take it again, I got an 18 the first time, and I think another part of it has to do with the fact that I wasn't feeling well during the second test and I had trouble concentrating. I hate this test with a passion, but hopefully the third times the charm... especially because there won't be a fourth time.

Very wierd, because the only source i used for the sciences was destroyer and i got above 19 in every science. You didnt study very well then.
I am sorry if i am being harsh but i am pretty grateful to the sources that i used and helped me alot and you are bashing them.
