Hi All !! Just a quick ques. I took Orgo 1 and got a C-, this fall i'm taking it over again, and hopefully getting a better grade. Last semester I took Orgo 2 and I got a C+. =( Even though according to my school it is a satisfactory grade should I retake Orgo 2 ???

Please take my comment with a grain of salt, but I would sign up for them, and be prepared to do well in them. Atleast the adcoms will see you are taking it to try and to better. The bad part, you didnt do well in them, the good part, you didnt fail them and your application can process. Personally I would sign up for them, and make sure you make it voiced to Adcomes that you are taking it again, and just rock it.

I think you should retake it if you honestly believe that you could get at least a B+.

If not, I think you should go forward and take something like Biochemistry.

I got C's in Bio the first time I took them and then I retook them two years later to score my A's. Sometimes when you come back later it's a lot easier.

In my opinion, a student who recieves a C is not going to do much better if at all in Biochemistry. I believe that is a bad statement, because if the OP does take biochemistry and fails(on par with getting a C in Ochem would be a D or lower in Biochem right??) then that would make their transcript much less competitive.

If you firmly believe you can do well in biochemistry, which I would evaluate first, then take it. Dont take it to prove yourself over Ochem. Ochem is required, biochem is not. Its just like putting more money on the poker table, you might win, but its risky as hell!! 👎 I still think, just take it again, get an A, you already got a C, you know you can get a C, show improvement, instead of taking a class you have no idea about, and general concenus states its tougher than Ochem, IMO a stupid idea

O Chem Sucks!!!!!!!!!

I think that it could be professor dependant. Alot of Biochem is just memorization Orgo has a lot more understanding involved. Obviously if you have a good Orgo backround Biochem becomes easier because you understand the mechanisms and you don't need to memorize it. Biochem really just throws together gen chem, orgo and bio and the op may have done better in gen chem and bio. I would only retake Orgo if you see yourself getting in the A-A- range. If you don't think it is possible go foward with biochem. I recieved a C+ in the first bio what I did was take an upper level bio course like Genetics and recieved an A. However, when I took that bio my it was my first semester.

I would take Orgo again. Even if you take biochem and do well, orgo is still one of your required pre-req's and I think that you should try to get above a C in it. By the way I wasn't a fan of orgo either... I don't many people who are.

Thanks all for your help !!! i'll see what i'm gonna do.....

Ehh I hate Orgo...especially Orgo II 🙁
