Hey so just wanted to know, whats the deal with Interfolio?

What are the advantages/disadvantages?

also do all schools accept letters from this service and does AMCAS accept it?

My school has a letter service where they collect all the letters and send them to whatever schools you want them to in a single packet with all the letters. But I figured it would be slower and Interfolio would just be more convenient and if i needed to Overnight or rush deliver anything it would be more useful.

Any comments/suggestions anyhow?

I use it. It's incredibly easy to use and very efficient. It takes a lot of the hassle out of LOR and the electronic delivery to schools is really nice-they basically get your LOR immediately. Not all schools have a subscription with them though and Interfolio will send them through the mail for you when that happens. The cost isn't that much, I really have no bad things to say about it. I highly recommend it.

Interfolio will save you the trouble of having to deal with the people at your school-which right now may not be so much of an issue, but if you ever want those letters again (reapplying or whatever) you'll always have access to Interfolio (well, as long as you pay for it).

The ability to log on whenever you want and select which letters go where has made my life so much easier. It really doesn't cost much, either (I am huge fan of the fact that they charge per delivery, not per amount in delivery).

I used my pre-med committee thinking it would be pretty convenient..but it's taking FOREVER. my advisor has yet to write my committee letter almost a month after I said I had secondaries. This might just be my school though...

Most schools accept Interfolio. So far, the only school that I know of that doesn't is UCI. However, UCI does accept mailed submissions from Interfolio, just not electronic. No, I have no idea why either.

AMCAS accepts Interfolio.

I haven't really found any disadvantages to using Interfolio. In the case that a school doesn't accept electronic LORs, Interfolio will mail them for you.

My Pre-med advisor actually suggested I use Interfolio because it's cheaper, faster, and easier.

Hmm thanks for all the feedback

At my school there is a letter service that makes a file of all your letters and then sends them out to the first 20 schools for $20 total so in that respect it would work out a lot cheaper vs Interfolio, so I am just trying to see which route to go by

My school's letter service however requires you to give 2 weeks from the time you request letters for them to be sent, even tho they say it usually only takes a few days

So I wasnt sure if Interfolio was worth the money and also if it looked more official or what not to send it through my University's letter service,

any further thoughts/opinions?

My school had that too...

they also submitted all of my letters two weeks after the deadline last time I applied. I didn't get in anywhere consequently. Funny how that worked out...

I'm using interfolio... with all of the money it's costing to apply to medical school again, I don't mind paying a bit more not to throw away another $2,000.

... just my thoughts.
