I'm writing the MCATs in two days and I've been trying to decide weather I'm ready or should VOID the test (I don't want a no show on my record that's for sure)

My most recent aamc practice test (the file was called aamc3r, if that rings a bell) I scored 11-verbal, 10-biological science, 7-physical science

I mean 30+ is good right, if I'm gonna score around 28, that's kind of the grey zone to void isn't it? not to mention they are not as even as I like. I feel that I could be screwing up my chances if I submit a mediocre score. I'm curently in canada and want to apply to all the med schools in ontario, since I'm only going into third year right now, I can apply to 4 med schools this year, only one that doesn't require the MCATs. However, I'm egar to submit a MCAT score is because I don't feel confident in getting into a med school (it's really competitive and pretty much like a lottery in canada) and want to do the entire process twice (once again in 4th year when I can apply to all 6)

to give some background info that might be important, my GPA is 3.8 right now, I have some volunteer activities, job experience and research experience. Infact the reason I didn't study a lot for the MCATs this summer is because I was so busy with research, doing presentations and going to meetings, I'm hoping to publish a paper by the end of the year as well. the practise aamc test I took was kind of old, before 2007 actually so there was more questions (76 of them for BS and PS, finsihed them in about 80 minutes). I've only studied for about a month for the MCATs although I do well in school and I did the PCATs this year which had a lot of the same science stuff. I'm not really strong in writing either...

So in the end, is all this enough to give me a good shot? is it worth it to submit a mediocre score? And I heard a rumor that you can score higher in the winter because MCAT scores are normalized with scores in the same testing period.

Any insight would be great, especially from someone in canada or ontario

If you get a 28 that may be the grey zone for you as to whether or not you re-take the MCAT. Alot of people take the MCAT more than once.

Why you would go through all of the trouble, if you weren't sick, of actually doing the test and then trying to guess what your score and the curve would be? And then possibly voiding a "32" when on a retake you'd possibly do worse?

I probably wouldn't void. But, what schools do you want to get into and what are their policies on multiple MCATs? How have your other practice AAMCs gone (if any?).

Why roll the dice? Take the exam when you are confident in your level of preparation.

Yeah, I think that confidence is key. The real deal, I imagine, is different than the AAMC practice because there really isn't much pressure in the practice exam. You could find the insecurity to be distracting which could lower your score.
