Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?
How will it benefit me in the future?
Thank you

It won't help you in any way. I say this as a former Chief fellow.Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?

Actually, I'll amend this slightly. Since I made the call schedule, I got the best one. That's pretty much the only benefit I found.I echo this as a current one
Touché. Would have been a better time as a first year with the front loaded call. Now I’m just looked into the problems with fellows and problems with attendings. I’m certainly not getting paid enough for that.Actually, I'll amend this slightly. Since I made the call schedule, I got the best one. That's pretty much the only benefit I found.
Exactly. We had a pyramidal call system as well. The chiefs only had 2 weekend calls while our co-senior fellows had 3 (and the first years had 6). The chief supplement was $5k.Touché. Not at mineDoes it improve prospects for getting hired at your institution? Based on the tenor of the above responses my assumption is no.
Nope. The only thing that got me hired at my institution was a letter from the (on his way out at the time) Division Chief, offering me a position. The look on the a**hole who took his place in the interim's face when he saw it was priceless.Does it improve prospects for getting hired at your institution? I did it to keep the job from going to someone who would have been an utter disaster. That part was worth it to me.If there's really no benefit, why do people continue to do it?
