Ok, so I am a Dental Hygienist and have been practicing for 2.5 years . I have a B.S in Biology and Dental Hygiene with an overall gpa of 3.53 and 3.32 sgpa. My application was submitted to my schools of interest the first week of August and now all have left is to submit my dat score. I am supposed to take the dat on 9/10 but am thinking of rescheduling it to 9/15 because I am still averaging about a 17 on cdp and bootcamp qr 👎. I have completed the entire dat destroyer 2x already and am scoring 21+ on sciences on bootcamp. I have not taken any other practice tests such as topscore or ADA 2009/2007.

During those few extra days I will take the practice tests and I have the dat math destroyer as well that I can do.

So I guess my question is do you think rescheduling is going to effect my chances all that much?
(I'm planning on faxing my scores to the schools that following Monday 9/16)

I don't think it will make much of a difference at all (unless you happen to be an Ohio resident applying to OSU). I do wonder how much of a difference 5 days will make though. If you're going to delay it I'd throw down another week or two to really tighten everything up.

Some schools don't want you to send unofficial scores to them so you have to wait. If you do nothing but studying and use your time wisely in that additional 5 days, it could help you big time. Just to remember not to burn yourself out right before the exam. The maximum number of full practice exam I would recommend to take in those few extra days is 3. The exam is very long and will take a lot out of you so just watch out for that.

If you are not missing a deadline then it should not effect your chances. It is better to use your extra time wisely and get a better score on a DAT than having to take it again.

I second everyone above. It is better to take that extra time to make sure you do well on the test than take it 5 days early only to get a lower score.

Be forewarned however, it takes about 3 weeks for your official score to be mailed to the schools and some schools won't process your application until they receive your official score.
