Should solubility be memorized?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The individual Ksp? God no. But you should be familiar with general solubility of some compounds. For instance anything in the first family is always soluble (NH4+ is always soluble as well). Perchlorate, Nitrate, and acetate are completely soluble. Hg2+, Ag+, Pb2+ (Mercury, Silver, and Lead) are not soluble (unless attached to the above anions). Hope this helps.

yea just knowing the general rules should be it. could be the difference between a 14 and 15, but it didn't come up on the real deal for me.
