I used to have a little cell phone repair business and it had a website, should I mention the website when I bring up the business? It wasn't an official business though more of a personal hobby/experiment.

However, would it be a good or bad idea to put the website address in?

BTW this is for a school that ONLY does WRITTEN interviews.

Did you actually have to register this business for tax purposes? If so, I would mention that as part of your employment history.

If you only did it as a hobby, having a website is irrelevant. A website is no different than handing out some paper advertisement for a product that you might be selling as a hobby.

It your "business" crossed the threshold where you would have to report the business for tax purposes, than yes - it should be mentioned as part of your history. Otherwise, it might be good to mention that you did this as a hobby and made a little extra money from it at one time.

As a personal example: I am fascinated by social insects such as ants and bees. I actually do personal scientific research on ant colonies, and I currently facilitate the growth of 6 ant colonies under observation. I became fairly good at building the habitats that they live in out of stone. I ended up advertising on a website that I am involved in, and I was selling insect habitats to some of the members. This "business" did not cross the threshold of having to report it for tax purposes, so I simply claim it as a hobby that I occasionally make money from.

Oh yea! I also had a "business" where I was selling "online gold" to people that play online multiplayer games... haha! it was fun, and I made a lot of money.. I did have to claim that. So, I add that as part of my employment history as a self started business.

Good luck in your interview!

I would probably mention it, with the slant of mentioning the skills you learned. I would put the business name, but putting the website address itself strikes me as an unnecessary risk. You're inviting them to judge you based on the website, plus it might come across as you trying to advertise inappropriately depending on phrasing and reader. I think it would be okay to mention your entrepreneurial skills as they relate to a career in pharmacy, and you may even be okay slipping in a quick mention of your website building skill (especially if that was a major facet).

Examples:
- I am coding a website from scratch for a non-profit. I am going to mention that experience going forward. I tend to focus on the project management aspects.
- I am helping my mom build a website for her business. Unless I become a business partner & the business takes off, I am not going to mention it.
