I have a friend who I think is overly worried about his accent.

He has pretty noticeable chinese accent, but we all have no problem understanding what he actually says. So I keep telling him that if I were in admissions committee, I wouldn't care what accent you have as long as I understand what you say without putting in much effort. But maybe it's b/c I am an Asian as well.

Don't know. Does having an accent work against you, given the fact that the person whom you speak with can understand fine?

P.S. I am gonna rant some more. He keeps complaining how his voice is so thin. Give me a break, I'd trade my voice with your voice if you give me your GPA. ARGGGGGGG. I couldn't tell you his name b/c it'd go against his privacy but it's Patrick.

No, it shouldnt matter unless the interviewer cannot understand you. Don't waste time on the small things like outfit (blue, black, charcoal), tie colors, and accent. Focus more time on whats important- the content that is coming out of your mouth.

haha i thought this was cute and funny. tell him not to worry because ive seen many dental students with heavy accents.

i second what Rainee said. 🙂
