I am getting tired of waiting for any news in dentistry.

I have applied to 17 schools and all of them are complete on mid August.

The earliest review started on mid July, and I am still waiting for any news. Whenever I called them, they answered "Just wait"

My worries are getting bigger as time goes on. More interview news start to discourage my hope (although I sincerely congratulate people who have gotten their interviews).

Does anyone have same feeling as I feel in these days?

I am sorry about crying in this forum, but I couldn't share this feeling with my parents or relatives because I just .. just don't want to disappoint them.

Good Luck everyone.

Maybe because its only Sept 2?

Dude, I totally know how you feel. I don't know what to tell ya because I'm trying to figure out what to tell myself first. In reality, all you can do know is sit back and watch how the cards unfold. Go read an inspirational book while you wait...Audacity of Hope...Great read. GL

First off..........RELAX!!!

If you burst a blood vessel in your brain from all the stress, all your hard work will be for nothing. It is really still early in the application cycle. My stuff wasn't complete until October, and I got into 5 schools with pretty average scores. Be patient and good luck

Its still really early, also it depends on what schools. There are a bunch of schools that have done nothing so far.

What are your stats?

You just got to chill out. There are people on hear who have applied three years. Now that is waiting. Enjoy the experience, work hard, and it will pay off.

My overall GPA is around 3.5, and Science GPA is 3.46.

I had 20 AA, 21 TS, and 22(?) PAT

I am not sure about my PAT score.

Thanx everyone. I thought I was in hurry. I probably needed to take more time to think about more positive things and to wait for hopeful news.

Don't worry about it, buddy. It is honestly still very early in the cycle. Keep yo head up! 🙂

I understand how you feel. I am working now and even at work there are times that I think about the outcome. We are all in the same boat and I am sure in october we'll see more news. Be patient buddy, you are not alone!

That's exactly how I feel right now too...

you finished your applications in mid-august and you expect schools to get back to you in two weeks? Do you have some higher social status that we do not know about?

Application opened on Mid-May - if you didn't want to wait until now to find out whether you have interview invites or not, you should have applied earlier.

Dude, harsh. Even when your application is a little late, just knowing that other people are getting interviews (even when it's not even to schools you've applied to) makes you a little antsy. OP's not asking for any special treatment, just a little freaked out, which is an emotional reaction, whether or not he has any logical reason to be.

I had my ADSAAS done early but didn't retake DAT until Aug 4, so even though I know it'll be a while before schools will get back to me, I still can't help but freak out. I've been chill up until this last weekend, when I couldn't help but check and recheck my email/ADSAAS even though it was the weekend. And so far I've played it cool and haven't been obsessively checking the mailbox, but I have a feeling that's about to change.

As to everyone else that's in the same boat (waiting for interview invites, especially from your top choices), let's try to stay busy and thus preoccupied with other things. That's mostly how I've stayed sane since people have started to get interview invites, by being too busy to notice that my top schools haven't responded yet. 🙂

And as a random note, can I tell you how relieved I am every time I see someone with *awesome* scores whose top choice school is not one of my top choices? I see it as that much less competition. 😀

OMG, if you havn't gotten an interview by now, you must be a loser! Start preparing your application for a dental hygiene program NOW!!!

...oh wait, you have an engineering degree from U Mich. You'll be okay.

just relax and enjoy being done with applications for now. This has been called by many the "hurry up and wait" as you rush to complete applications early and then sit and wait for what seems like forever. It will happen ... just be patient. good luck

it's still early in the game. RELAX what's up with not knowing what you got on the pat? I don't think anyone forgets their DAT scores.... especially if you are applying this cycle.

I agree with this guy, although I might not have put it so harshly. I think that the majority of people who are hearing back now submitted really early. I know that I submitted May 30 and was complete by the end of June (I took my DAT last year) and I'm just now hearing back from schools about interviews. If you only submitted in August, you have some time to wait. Just relax, your gpa and dat are fine and you'll most likely get an interview somewhere. Go do something else but hang out on SDN all day because it can be discouraging sometimes.

Okay, I submited my apps on very early June, and finished my all secondary application on mid-August.

I don't want to argue about my impatience. But I would like to let you know that I am not lazy. Also, I completed most of my apps late July. Only some schools (Loma Linda, BU, etc) asked me to submit their sup. or fees on August.

And I don't have some high social status. I loaned to attend the university right now, and worked for residental dining service. Did I answer your question?

good for you that you applied early but wow..you are so harsh on the OP..
i'm sure not everyone was capable of submitting their app the day the app opened up (as myself)..and its inevitable to feel how the OP feels..
after all..we're all on the same boat..why not be encouraging?

There's nothing wrong with finishing in the middle of August. I am just saying that people who have submitted in mid-may had to wait 2-3 months to get their invites, and there are a lot of people who finished before the OP and their application is still not processed yet. Besides, why do EVERYONE need to be encouraging? Out of what.. 19 posts in this thread, how many posts are encouraging? Do we really need 10 people telling us it will be okay and interview invites will come soon? Someone has to be the bad guy and tell it like it is - two weeks is not a long time in terms of processing the application at various schools. For the record, I hope the OP will get some interview invites soon.

you are right in your latest post..two weeks is not a long time for processing.. but why would anyone need to be the bad guy to say that?

If you're sick and tired after waiting a month and a half, how are you going to feel waiting 4 or more years to become a Dentist?

Patience is a virtue, my friend, and Dentists are virtuous.

do yourself a favor and take a two-three week vacation with no access to the internet and SDN. sounds like you could use some down time and if you are competitive, you should have some invites when you get back.
