Hi,
I am a fourth year med student thinking about going into anesthesiology.
I was just wondering if anyone in the forum knows anything about Anesthesia's role in the SICU/MICU-- do they play a big role in most hospitals? Also, is it typical for a general anesthesiologist to spend time doing this stuff? How can I best prepare myself to do a rotation in the SICU (is there a good book to read)?

Some programs, the anesthesia department run the SICU...in private practice, we do no icu stuff...low low low reimbursements.
