I met a good guy during first year, and we became friends. He works for a religious organization that goes to undergraduate spreading his religious beliefs. I am not of the same religion. I already indirectly support my own religious institutions with $$.

I recently signed a contract for after graduation. Now even before graduation he has contacted me to “sponsor” him for 3 figures monthly. He apparently gets paid by sponsors stating he has many family and friends supporting him.

I am at a loss as to how to approach this. I can’t help but feel he sees me becoming an attending next year and $$$.

You can tell him it’s not in your budget right now. If he stays your friend then he was a real friend

Ditto. If you don’t cut that off now, it’ll only grow exponentially worse.
