I was recently elected to Sigma Xi full member. It cost some money for the annual fee but it is like a nice membership with certain grants/awards opportunities. Just curious if any PD/physicians would be aware of this and if it would look an inch nicer on my ERAS application.

Sigma xi is pretty well known among those who do research but I don’t think it would mean much for residency. It’s not *that* hard to be selected for it.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t list it. I certainly did and I don’t think I’ve paid a single cent beyond the initiation fee I paid nearly 10 years before I applied to residency.

I became a Sigma Xi full member when I was an undergraduate student (because of pubs). Lots of people are full members. Sigma Xi membership has not made a difference in my career (just saying) and I doubt it will get significant attention on ERAs.
