I just received my match results letter and statistics from SF Match. It states that I am in a legally binding commitment with my programbut it also advises me to "contact the training program as soon as possible to sign a written contract with the institution."

😕

Forgive me for possibly missing something here, but if I am already in a legally binding situation with the program, is it really necessary to sign a contract with the program? Has anyone else contacted the institution where they will be a resident to sign a written contract? If so, why is this necessary?

no seriously, I think it's more to protect you than to protect the program...I wasn't planning on contacting the program though, they will send the contract when they feel it's the right time 🙂

Just little stuff like getting paid, etc, that is not explicitly stated in the SF Match info.

Okay, thnx. The "detail" the stuff. I was wondering if that meant that my residency spot wasn't really secure until I signed a written contract with the program.

You are bound, they are bound. The contract just spells out the terms of your employment. As neuro is a PGY-2 position, there is a chance that you won't get your paper contract until you are in your intern year (as they batch process them for the upcoming academic year).

I was told that I wouldn't be signing a contract until I arrive for my PGY2 year. For now, I would be signing an acceptance letter which I have not yet received...has anyone else been in this situation?

I received a letter from my program asking me to write and sign a brief statement that I have accept a position in their program.
