i was trying to sign up for the DAT exam and it was telling me that i need an eligiblity ID letter in order to proceed the sign up.

Eligibility to Test
You must submit an application to test and receive an eligibility letter with an assigned eligibility number from the American Dental Association (ADA) prior to scheduling your testing appointment with Prometric. You will be eligible for one testing attempt during the twelve months following the date of your letter. Carefully review the information contained within your eligibility letter and notify the ADA (800.232.1694) within two business days of any inaccurate information.

does this mean you can only take the exam once a year?

i'm very confused.

has anyone sign up recently for the DAT exam?

No. You can take 1 test each time you register. Once you register, your eligibility code is "good" for 1 year. In that 1 year, you can use the eligibility code to sign into Prometric website anytime to pick a test date, time and test site. If you do not take the test in the interval of 1 year, the registration is no longer valid....you'll have to register and pay again to take the test.

If after you have taken the test once and wish to retake it, you must wait 90days. You must register and pay again to take the test. Hope that helps.

After you register the first time, they will also send you a DENTPIN which you can use to reregister in the future.

Sorry if this question is redundant, but does this mean that first time applicants can't schedule to take the DAT until June 3, 2010, when the application cycle opens?
