can I chew gum during step 2 CK (or is that considered food)?

can I take a break after every block (~7 breaks) or are you limited in the number of breaks you can take?

thanks!

Don't know about the gum, but you can't take breaks whenever you want. Everybody takes breaks at the same time. On my test day, there were 12 patient encounters and it went as follows: 5 patients, lunch, 4 patients, short break, 3 patients, done.

At least they include lunch. Kinda the least they could do for $1055.

CK, not CS

I took a break after every block of CK, its the only way I could keep my sanity.

You could probably get away with gum if it's already in your mouth, but I'm pretty sure they won't let you bring it in. You can take as many breaks as you want, but your total break time is 45 min (1 hour if you skip the tutorial at the start).

I chewed gum for the first 2 blocks since it was already in my mouth. Pretty sure you could keep some in the locker in the anteroom.

Breaks are allowed after every block; split them as you see fit but I prefered to save more time for the later-on blocks when I started to get fatigued.

A break after each section is not a bad idea. You can use them to get some tylenol for that headache, eye drops, snacks, water, a quick walk, etc.

Bam, you are not alone my friend. I had the same dilemma as well b/c I need my gum when I study, etc. I actually had no problem with it on test day, and just popped in a fresh piece during each block in front of the proctor even.

I had planned to take a break every block, but realized that the biometric checking in and out would waste time, so I decided to take one every two blocks, and save more time for the afternoon. Also, at end of block 1, I didn't even want or need one. I was fried towards the end and was glad I could take a good longer break there. I also took a large 30 minute break at lunch, which was like re-setting my hard drive.

I heard they can be pretty hard core at some of the testing centers ensuring you ampty all your pockets, remove excessive clothing and hats, no food no drink but i suppose they are just trying to standardize all the testing to ensure equality among test takers... for me it just makes an uncomfortable and more stressful testing environment but hey we chose this right?!?! 🙂

Since we're asking stupid questions:

You get more time for breaks if you finish blocks early, right?

IE - If I have 10 minutes left in a block (fast reader and don't like to change answers) I can use that as a break and still take a full 45 minute lunch, correct?
