Hey guys;

I am taking CK in DC next week and just have a few questions.

1. Is the "new" CK lay out same as the new UW 2.0 lay-out?
2. How many of those series questions do we get per block? (you know, the ones that are 2 or 3 questions on the case)
3. What's the DC centre like?
4. Anyone still having issues with the new format?

cheers 😎

Hi Femto, I can answer 1, 2, 4:

1. Yes, virtually the same, except the "lock" button on the real CK is in place of the "pause" button on UW. You can even search the labs, which I didn't realize until the day before!
2. 46Q per block
4. I had problems with the audio quality, and it seems like others on UW experienced other problems.

Good luck!

I just did the new 50 or so UW Qs that they put up & they have a GMAT like, answer a Q & you cannot go back to it format. The answer to the 2nd Q depends on getting the first one correct.

Anyone know if this is how CK is going to be & if so, from when?

Thanks

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention a few other differences (I took the exam a few weeks ago, haven't thought about it in a while)

1. Like the shelf exams, in each block, there are a few question topics grouped in two's (i.e., two headache questions back-to-back) where the answer choices are the same.

2. Unlike the shelf or UW, there are two questions that are linked together. So when you answer the first part, you can't go back to it when you read the follow-up question.

3. Then there's the audio (stethescope) and video questions.

Samples of all of these types of questions can be found in the tutorial.

Aw crap....When did they start this?? 🙁. Oh well.....Can't delay it now anyway. Friday will either find me elated & joyful or reconsidering my uncle's offer to go work at his gas station.

Are you able to at least read the whole Q again....the UW format has just a new 2 line Q so you have to remember exactly how old & how pregnant the lady was before figuring out what to do.

you CAN go back and read the question, I believe, but you CAN'T change the answer once you selected your answer. :meanie:

Right, the previous question stem and answer choices are still visible, you just can't change your answer.

Only a handful of questions are like this in the whole test. Same with the other question types.

one more thing, should I waste 15 minutes doing the tutorial? I did it for Step 1 and I was really upset that I did...I had to poo half way through...needless to say, that was the quickest no.2 in history 😉

I believe you can do that (the tutorial AND the poo-ing 🙂) beforehand.

hahaha I don't even know why I had to use to the bathroom...All I had that day was 1/2 RedBull and 1/2 of a sandwich...

Is there anything "important" in the tutorial?...considering i have completed step 1 (did the tutorial there) and done 4 months of UW.

cheers

really? any feedback? what did you use to study? and were they helpful?

I used the usual. UW, B&W, 1st AID CK & Secrets.
I was doing pretty well on the UW Qs both % wise & more importantly time wise. I finished step 1 w/ loads of time left & ended up doing pretty well but for step 2 it just seemed I was struggling to get through the Qs with barely 2-3 mins left to go over the marked Qs.
Lots of Qs w/ an insane amount of lab values given (w/ lots of abnormals) but the actual Qs relied on knowing just ONE of those labs...so instead of wasting time highlighting the abnl labs I would recommend just reading the last 2 lines of the Q & then read the full Q.
Hardly any micro/abx on mine, lots of psych, OB & Peds....did they take a lesson from the COMLEX people ?? 🙄

The "linked" Qs were not that bad & the good thing about them is that , at least for 4 out of 5 of mine, they told you the answer to the 1st Q ("You ordered____ but ____ happened) & then asked you the next Q so you don't get 2 wrong.
You CAN read the previous Q in its entirety.

There were at least 3 sets of the 2Qs w/ the same answer choices, in each block, w/ almost the same hx in them. Really easy to get it down to 3-4 choices & then your brain needs to work overtime.

Any more Qs post here.....but it may take a while to respond since I will be praying from now till Dec 7th 😀
