I just received an interview invite as an out of state applicant. I am very surprised since they do not accept hardly any out of state, would you guys suggest going to the interview? Also I feel like it is fishy that it took so long to get one as they had received my application in september... any opinions?

Have you received any acceptances yet? If so, would you rather go to SIU than your current acceptance? I don't think there is anything fishy about it...they have a lot of good applicants

Southern typically interviews later for two reasons:

1) More time to thoroughly review applicants
2) Doesn't give preference to someone just because they submitted their application earlier, but because they are more qualified etc...

Yeah, their admitted students typically have higher stats than UIC as described by the ADEA guide.

Great! Thanks for the advice. I am definitely going to go, so excited 🙂
