Skipping Physics Lab

so i've been accepted and put down a deposit at a school. however the only prerequisite I have not completed is phys. II lab.

i've got a really great opportunity to go work at a hospital away from where I live. unfortunately this hospital is not adjacent to any colleges. i can't take the job if i have to take the lab. also, I would rather spend $300 on text books for next year instead of one credit of physics.

any ideas on how to get out of this lab (appeals, etc.)?

Seriously doubt you will be able to get out of the lab. All of us have had to take it. You will just have to find a way.

yeah. i figured as much. just thought id get more life experience doing a tour at an army hospital and studying in my off time than i would bojangling at an office job and taking physics 2 lab...

All of this is true. Nevertheless theres probably not a way out of it.

Did you try calling your med school? Explain to them how you've come upon such a great opportunity and how you believe it will be beneficial for your learning experience and success as a medical student. Describe the area and lack of nearby colleges. Ask if there is any sort of online supplement they possibly provide (ie UNECOM has an online, summer-before biochem course for students matriculating that August) or some other outside source/replacement you could use and find on your own that enables you to both accept the position and fulfill the credit. I would avoid the suggestion that you get out of it all together, rather try and come up with some sort of reasonable compromise or ask if they may have an idea for one themselves. While this may be a lost cause, it doesn't hurt to try. I can't see you "getting out of it," however, without directly involving/asking the school about your decision and methodology of "getting around" directly taking the lab or subbing it out somehow.
