So heres the deal. I have my test in a couple of weeks and I have been super stressed and hating life. I am thinking of going skydiving for the first time a couple of days before my test. I was originally planning on doing it after my test to celebrate, but now I'm thinking the rush and all those endorphins will help me relax and be less stressed and in turn i'll score better. I think this is a great idea, feel free to share if you think otherwise. SO anyone else been skydiving? better yet before the DAT?

Thats an interesting idea. It seems a little extreme, but you are your on gauge on that. why dont you do something like jet sking. It dose sound sick tho!!!

lol i would say go for it buddy, I ve been workin out hardcore since i started studying for DAT and I am takin it on the 22nd of July. I booked an hour massage in a very good spa the day before my exam to relax and take it easy 🙂.

I think that's an awesome idea! The only thing that make take it up a notch is if you could set it up immediately prior to your test... and instead of driving to the test center, just land in the parking lot!

Been there done that. Taking the DAT is pretty extreme so I need something on the same level lol.

I was working out hardcore as well but then I got stressed out and stopped lifting regularly for the last couple of weeks and it doesnt look like I will be lifting for the next 2 weeks neither, maybe once a week if I'm lucky. I lost a bunch of weight and I got much weaker but after I'm done I'm "beast building" haha.

hahahaha that would be sweet as hell, i will be looking into that.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd do that. I have been skydiving and it's quite extreme. For at least a couple of days afterward (like 2 weeks for me lol), you keep having flash backs about how crazy and cool it was and it occupies your mind. Although the idea of relaxing the day before your exam sounds good, I don't think you'd want something that's gonna occupy your mind and let some of what you've learned slip away. The last thing you want is to be thinking about your jump while trying to figure out that Ochem reaction if you know what I mean. Although, I'm sure the whole experience would have different effects on different people. Skydiving is definitely something I recommend doing, just not something I'd do the day before DAT personally ..........

Here's my first (and so far only) jump: lol

Dude. You are CRAZY lol. I dont EVER plan on doing that...riding the ride atop the stratosphere in vegas was ENOUGH crap like that for me....lol

I'd only go skydiving before the test if I know I'm not prepared, it's my 4th try, and I don't have cyanide handy as a means of committing suicide. Otherwise, jumping out of a plane with a piece of cloth strapped to my back never sounded like a very good idea.

There's a probably a higher chance of dying by getting hit by a car on your way to school or work than skydiving. That guy I jumped with was on his 9000's jump. If you're smart about it, it's not dangerous at all.

You wanna know what's nutso? This is nutso:

If I ever learned how to do that, I'd die happy ..........
I can't believe the guy dived into the mug at 4:30 ish, I just jumped out of my seat ..........

omg lol;;thats RIDICULOUS

I would say depends on what type person you are.

If your used to pushing the edge a little i would say GO for it. Also you might not want to be completely cutting out your lifting.

My passion is kitesurfing which is an extreme sport. I was freaking out studying for a couple weeks and then got to go kiting yesterday for the first time in a long time for me and it really centered me and leveled me out. Today my studying went much better and i felt like my brain was completely fresh.

I feel like sometimes studying can build up un helpful stress.

I feel like if i went ski diving personally i would get super charged up for the rest of the day and would then be able to do some casual reviewing without freaking and while quite focused. thats assuming i was reasonably confident with the amount of studying I Had put in. Last few days should be cram time.

If conditions are good and I am ready i think kiting or some other adrenaline based activity would be good for me. Kiting is a large part of the reason i want to be a dentist and a reminder is always a good motivator.

you know yourself, maybe it would be good for you.

this is kiteboarding, not me riding though

Its absolutely my favorite thing to do, a true passion of mine. Being a dentist will alow me to live near the beach and have flexible hours and days off so that I can kite more. Its a real rush and hugely rewarding whenever you land a new trick. the learning curve is awesome since its relatively easy to do tricks compared to other extreme sports. Definitely recommend trying it, got to take a lesson though.

If you're burned out enough to consider spending a day skydiving instead of studying, I don't think you'll miss the day one way or the other. Go for it.

Understood 🙂 Point well proven. Best of luck! ... and, lol, i think you are crazy too; hiking and climbing the rockies is enough for me lol🙂

I'd much rather get hit by a car and have my feet on the ground!

I too have been thinking to do it before the test!!!! BUT then reality sinks: what if I brake a foot? The whole leg? Then have to take the DAT with a cast? My husband asks" what if I die? HA! Ok, too much stress "before the test" then. One of my best friends is an expert and with 4 little kids the woman jumps every weekend....why can I??? So, I'm just exercising to keep stress away, have a strict routine, study every day, and work on staying positive and focus. If you do jump, can you come back and share???? Good luck!

Sninpe, what can I say, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!! Love it!!!! Will you do it again??

Yea, definitely one day. The place I went to jumped out 10k miles tho, that gives you about 30 seconds of flight time. Next time, I'd go somewhere where they jump at 12-15k, gives you an extra 10-30 seconds of unbelievable rush.

Next on the list is either an accelerated free-fall program (where you can skydive by yourself the first day, and there's two instructors that jump with you but are not actually attached to you. They make sure you stay in form, and you get to control the shoot yourself) or scuba diving.

These wakeboarding stuff sounds awesome too.

The only one that I hope I can keep doing through dental school is rock-climbing though. It's great.

Thanks for all the feedback people.
Shinpe, that is sick, I watched that and I wanted to go so bad so I called the place to schedule an appointment but they were booked solid for the next 2 weeks so I'm actually going to do it 2 days after my test which is all good.
Kiteboarding looks sick, I wakeboard often and I think that will be my next sport of choice, so I will def. be looking into that.
Now due to the change in plans I think I'm just going to go wake boarding a couple of days before and maybe get a massage the day before the test. Good luck to everyone on there upcoming test.
