slacking off

I believe that everyone on the quarter system only has Spring quarter left. Regardless, I think that as long as you don't have conditions on your acceptance it won't matter. Graduating with honors and awards, on the other hand, is enough to keep me motivated. I must admit, studying for winter quarter finals was definitely harder knowing that it didn't matter as much.

Yeah, we just finished Winter quarter, but I wasn't sure where everyone else was...I was just trying to do the minimum to avoid getting a C. Whateva. Graduating with honors is not enough to keep me motivated 😛 although I can't wait for my thesis to be done.

I'm with you, just wish the semester was already over.

May seems so far away!

I'm just now recovering from my D+ I got on last weeks Herp. quiz. Guess I need to step it up a little but I SO want to slack. I've had to keep a 3.5 for my scholarship and now I can finally relax! I am tempted to drop my Herp. course but since I won't really get a chance to learn it anywhere else I'll continue to chug along. 19 credits is a bummer but a lot of people do it so I can't complain. Anyone in the Philly area that knows a good place to find some amphibians/reptiles (in the wild) send the info my way! I need to find and take pictures of 8 before the end of the semester 🙂 As for the rest of my courses - prerequisites are the bane of my existance.

Definetely! I dropped my interpersonal course since I don't need it where I am going and already had put mythology on pass fail since I missed two weeks of class for interviews! So now I'm at 15 credits the least I have ever taken in college--and yet I am just waiting for may!

yeah i'll be getting 2 or 3 C's this semester...all in non requirments of course. My brain is ready to move on.

ugh! I am doing the absolute minimum in all of my classes... senioritis has hit me HARD!

I'm glad other people are feeling the same way...I feel so worthless! but I keep convincing myself, "I'm just saving it for vet school in the fall!"

So, I became WAY distracted Winter quarter with interviews and such, so I received 3 B+'s and 1 A, which dropped my GPA to 3.77. Actually, I'm kind of hoping to ace this Spring quarter to bring my GPA back up but I'll probably slack off again. I already got into vet school, and none of these classes are required for vet school, just my major 😀

My Oklahoma State acceptance letter said something like "applicants are reevaluated after the spring semester so you must remain competitive."
:scared:

Scared me straight! I'm not slacking off, even in my classes that are not pre-reqs, just to be safe.

Herp is an awesome class! Its definitely tough, at times, but awesome. I wish I could help you pick out a place to find some herps, but I don't know anything in the Philly area (however, I could recommend some places near Baltimore). Have you asked your professor or TA or do you have to figure this out on your own? Good luck! Herps are hard to find in the wild. And when you say 8 I assume you mean 8 species rather than 8 individuals?

i have to take a plant physiological ecology in order to graduate. that's gonna be a big fat C on my transcripts. i'm aiming for Bs in the rest of my courses... i stopped working at all in school the day i got my acceptance letter! *just dont fail, just dont fail*

this semester has been similar for me... except that i'm normally a really motivated person as far as grades go so it's like an epic battle of wills with myself😛 and the thesis has suffered as well. three weeks to present and my data is as yet unanalyzed😱

who really needs a batchelor's anyway...

WOW! I am wanting to slack as well! Glad to hear I am not the only one! For K-State, they told me not to receive a grade lower than a C or my admission could/will be voided. I was going real well, but since Spring Break I have seemingly lost motivation. Like right now, I should be studying Immunology, but I am checking on new threads. Oh well, a B on a test won't kill me.....I hope.

i'm lucky in that i have no classes left to take (yeah), but i do still have to pay the mortgage (thus, work), and must finish a HUGE grant before i leave... on a day like today, when i'm trying to pull in a 12 hour shift, have tons of work to do, am nearly literally sitting beneath piles and piles of paper, what am i doing every hour or so? looking at these boards!!!

jeez - how can i take 4 more months of this!! if i keep up with my slacker ways, more than i will suffer, so here's to 2 more hours of spreadsheets!!

(psst... i'll check back in an hour 😉)

I've been class free since December 20 and I couldn't be happier! I quit my job before my Illinois interview because I was supposed to have surgery in March (which, thankfully I didn't end up having!). Lots of travelling, still doing clinic stuff, and mostly just relaxing 😍 😀

Yes!!! My data for my science thesis is unanalyzed, too!!!! I'm supposed to be turning in the draft on Monday that I'll be defending , but unanalyzed data makes it *really* difficult to write a results/discussion.... I feel much better knowing someone else has a pile of data sitting in front of them... 🙂

On a slightly separate note... I got my acceptance letter two days before Spring Break. It seriously would have been the PERFECT time, except that Spring Break was when I was supposed to make MAJOR headway on both of my theses and the rest of my class work... It was so hard to make myself sit down and write anything because everytime I did it was like, "but I've already been accepted..." Silly silly caring about grades... otherwise the rest of this semester would be a breeze 🙂

At least you guys have data to be analyzed--I am still collecting my data and then have to analyze it and write it up by April 20th!

Good luck to us all!

My school requires that you to receive a B or better for the courses in which you are currently enrolled...so slacking is not that much of an option.

I've found it unexpectedly difficult to slack - I've been soo programmed to make "A's that I now freak when I skip a class or something, even though I have full license to slack: I must make C's or above in my pre-reqs this semester, so I'm shootin fer C's, all the while finding it more stressful than if I were just shootin for A's lol!
I won't even graduate with Bachelors either, being 10 credits shy I think. Oh well.

I completed all the required pre-req's for K-State, so I'm looking forward to (ugh) working a ton through July, but also gardening, hiking and relaxing when I'm home!

Heading to Kansas the end of April to scope out a cardboard box or similar beginning in August. 😉 I guess I'm hoping to rent a cardboard box, or buy one.

😀

This is perhaps the first time ever that I'm looking forward to starting school this fall. I know once we're knee-deep in anatomy we may regret those sentiments... but from here, at this point, I sure can't wait!

hey cookie,

when is "too soon" to make flight arrangements to find a place? in my hunt i'm noticing that you can't hope to get your name down for something until at least june. just don't want you getting all the way to kansas and not finding anything yet. then again, LA is a bit different than Manhattan...
