In my first year in undergrad, I worked (labour) at pig slaughterhouse over the summer (in barn and food processing unit). However, I was able to have conversation with government food inspector and also learn how the foods are processed.
Is it also considered as large animal experience?

Also, what name (job title) do you put on your resume for the volunteering work you did in animal clinics?
While I was volunteering at animal clinic, I did variety of work including taking/developing x-ray, taking blood, assisting surgeries, and etc.
So it just seems too....sad to name it as "volunteer".

Thanks in advance!

That's why there's a spot for you to list all the cool things you did! I'm sure they'll see that you did lots of neat stuff that not all volunteers get to do. Just list all those things in the description of duties.

I think a slaughterhouse would be LA experience... actually, I would call it "food animal" experience, if you can. I'm sure that will set you apart from other applicants, just be sure to talk about it if you get an interview. You did work with the pigs, right? You didn't just sort food or something?

That's definitely LA/Food Animal experience. Was the food inspector a DVM or a Phd? You could also say that part of the experience was Vet experience.
