good morning/evening

* in this thread lets talk about sleep and nap :
- because as we know the time is so important and our bodies as our mind need to take rest .

so lets answer this questions :

1- how long of sleep we need every day ? . ( and if we decrease it and use some of it for more study , will have negative effects to our mind as the ability of understanding or memorization ? )

2-what is the best time for take a nap and how much it's lenght for good 1?
because in last semester i tried alot of types first a 2 hours nap ( it's work well but i think it's a big waste of time ) . then i tried to take every day a 30 min nap ( mm it's good but i think that my ability of memorization is decrease ) .....

....tell us about your experience and what is the best ?:luck:

1. Everyone is different

2. Everyone is different

If there was an accepted universal answer, then that is exactly what they would let us have.

You can get by on 4-5 hours a night for a lot of nights in a row if you need to. And in residency there will be lots of times when you need to. While the optimal amount of sleep is probably somewhere in the 6-8 hours range for most people, in medicine there will be many times you have to go below this. You will be quite functional, won't die, probably won't kill anyone. Naps are a nice concept but a lot of us have worse problems functioning after a very short bout of interrupted sleep than staying up straight -- you will see this during residency where your pager may go off every 30 minutes the entire night. This is the one "benefit " of night float under the new regime -- if you are theoretically sleeping during the day you are expected to stay awake for your 14 hour night float shift, and never have to experience being awoken by the pager.
