Sleep and Step 1

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I like to get 7-8 hrs. a night. I have tried getting less and it doesn't work. I also have to wake up no earlier than 5:30 am or it is like I got no sleep at all. I am not sure what I am going to do the night before the test though as I have been having trouble falling to sleep lately. I am expermenting with different things now but so far nothing has been perfect.

How much sleep, on average, do you get per night when studying for Step 1?

You need to get enough sleep. I am not saying 9-10hours a night but at least 7. If you find that you have a hard time sleeping, get some ambien or something. It took awhile for that stuff to kick in and actually help me fall asleep. Get a good night rest before the exam day. Trust me, the questions on this exam are TRICKY. Some may "seem" easy some may "seem" difficult. But, just try to stay focused and THINK your way through the questions. And, do not let a question intimidate you. Just do the best you can. Not having enough sleep can lead you to make really stupid mistakes when it comes to answering questions. Hope this helps.

I got around 9-10 hours per night...this was awesome. If I could only do that now that I'm not studying for Step 1. I felt really focused when I studied.

i think it's totally unncessary (and not healthy!) to skimp on sleep.
Ive seen some crazy boards schedules out there and i really dont think its necessary, nor sustainable. I plan 7-8 (closer to 8) every night.
