Curious to see if there's a general pattern between hours of sleep and GPA. Please provide your response and check back to see if there's any trends.
If there's enough responses I'll put together some sort of graph.

Either:
1. Respond to the poll
or
2. Provide a response in the format:
Hours of sleep (on the average school night):
GPA:
Do you feel that you'd be more productive if you slept more:

please expound on your query. I don't know what you want, here.

He wants to see if the amount of sleep correlates with what GPA you have. I see no connection, tho

Oooo, gotcha.

I think that there are way too many other factors that goes into someone's GPA, sleep not being chief among them.

I don't think there is a correlation either. You can sleep 10hrs a night and still pull a 2.5. You can sleep 3hrs a night and play catch-up on Sunday morning and pull a 3.9.

It's what you do with your waking hours, and efficient balancing of sleep need that wins the day. But I am curious to see what others will say.

If you have to consistently sacrifice a healthy amount of sleep in order to maintain your GPA, it does not bode well for medical school.

I'm not sure if these polls will indicate much about the output of a premed. It doesn't take into account other activities that may force people to sleep less. Also, people develop different sleep pattern/abnormalities regardless of workload. On another note, I know a lot of people who sleep normally who still maintain their grades and extracurricular activities... They just have better habits, drive, and are possibly apathetic towards most forms of streamlined entertainment.

Hours:6-7+
GPA: 3.8+

I slept at least eight hours per night in undergrad, mostly the same so far in M1. People who deprive themselves of sleep are silly.

as a general rule of thumb, one should strive to know the information the day before the test, which completely takes sleep out of the question. I honestly think there is a pattern and the low point starts to be sleep less than 6 hours...any less than that and it's really pointless. Ofcourse you could also get too much sleep. I never got a lot of sleep and my gpa sucked in college. Now I'm sleeping more and retaking classes and making A's. Theres an anecdote for ya 😀

work full-time. GPA 3.9. Crash EVERY weekend.

OP, I'm gonna be blunt here. Either:

1. Stop Trolling

or

2. Get a life.

The neuroticism in this thread topic man...

As someone who sleep 8-9, I feel very excluded. Also, to do true regression analysis, you should collect actual numbers instead of categorical data.

Pre-meds have some weird competition going on about how little sleep they get. They take pride in it. I've never really understood that. You are wise to get a lot of sleep.

Sleep is soooo overrated. The Fighting Irish on the other hand, are underrated. #9 and moving up!

Jk about the sleep btw, I get plenty of sleep every night.

I don't think it's the number of hours of sleep but rather the consistency. I know that I am more productive when my sleep has been consistent rather than sporadic.

3.7ish, i sleep 8+ hrs normally, but anywhere from 2-5 before a test (I'm a big procrastinator)

3.9, never once pulled an all nighter. usually 8.5-9.5 hours a night. I get better grades if I sleep more so I wouldn't think of staying up all night

I get very little sleep on an average weekday/always feel sleep deprived....but it's more because of my insomnia and terrible efficiency in the day. I'm a night owl by nature, and would do so much better if I had afternoon classes. I could probably get more sleep and do better in classes if I addressed other factors or changed my sleeping habits.

This. I didn't go to an Ivy league school or anything, but IMO, nothing in undergrad should require a consistent lack of sleep. If that's the case, you are doing something wrong.

Yeah...like having a life outside the classroom...you know, nurturing the relationships in your life, or working in the grown-up world. How messed up is that?

3.83, 5-6 hours... for undergrad. I've been sleeping a bit more in grad school. And in undergrad it wasn't always because I was studying... usually just that I couldn't go to sleep before midnight and then had to get up early for 8 AM classes.
