Oh that my esteemed younger colleagues might have known the joy of LOTL as an eight year old. Back when it was NOT a comedy. It was drama, there on our still predominantly black and white TV screens, dare I say it, art?

How did I never write a paper on the escape psychology of this show? Where is Marshall's wife? What husband of the 70's wouldn't want to grab his fun adventurous kids, cling to a tiny raft and plunge 1000 feet below, away from the madness of avocado-colored laundry machines, body bags, the Nixon administration and (gasp) the wife?!? T Rex as the clear and constant threat of Soviet communism, sticking its nose in our caves?

Aargh, I was too young, TOO YOUNG to see that Will was a HOTTIE. OMG. He's bald now. And I'm sure Holly ended up in rehab.

Forget it.

Down south we watched it in science glass. Right after the Genesis chapter.

Oh, I remember!:laugh::laugh: While I had no further insight in watching it as an adult (accept, OMG, the production value, and OMG, how creepy is the sibling rivalry!), and am frankly jealous that you did, I also regret my inability to recognize the hotness.

I absolutely recall LOTL.

Remember when the new "remote" for the TV was a box on a 4 foot leash that actually turned the knobs on the TV? (or the stem where the knobs used to be.........)

I have no recollection of that kind of remote, as my adult relatives used the "shaking the bottom of a beer can in the general direction of the TV while yelling at us to turn the damn channel" method until, oh 1982. When cable came out. :meanie:

Ahhh, Land of the Lost, what a show!

When I first moved to LA to write (another thread altogether), I was working on the Warner Bros lot and, when you are new in LA, and young, the game is to get into as much trouble on the lot as possible. That means, go places you aren't supposed to. Visit sets. Stand in that back of exterior shots. Get onto sound stages and grab scripts. Sneak across the gate from the real lot to the park lot (Universal). So, after wandering onto the street set that was Main Street Hazzard county in the day (which was being used for Lois and Clark that day I recall) I was told that wayyyyyy in the back, they filmed some exteriors for Land of the Lost. I went and explored with my fellow writer friend.
It was the best. Seing that boulder amongst the Burbank shrubbery took me back to my childhood. 😛 Which, in those days, wasn't that long ago.

I've also visited the Lagoon that was made all too famous on Gilligan's Island. It's now a parking lot. But I saw water once!!! Years ago.

p.s. oh, and the remote i recall, was the one that was connected via cable, and had three rows on channels, to distinguish which row you were in, you'd flip the switch on the left to go from say 11 to 22. I could still flip through 36 channels in 3.1 seconds!

Loved LOTL.....I remember those big logs or whatever they used as like dinosaur fly swatters? I may be way off, but I thought I remember something like that!

Oh, and as far as remotes, we had the one on the leash which had that clicking slide bar going back and forth..AND for a while had the real suped up model that had the AB switch right in it. A was green color and B was red color. Way before its time.........And a final note for the old tube, as if any of you are really interested, under the coffee table we always had a collection of shoes so when the old TV went dark you simply had to throw a shoe at it and it would brighten back up!!! I can't believe I remember that.........thanks everyone. I nneded a laugh!

I had find out what the heck you folks were talking about... those episodes are available to view for free online at http://www.hulu.com/land-of-the-lost

Love that banjo theme music. and hah! the bathtub special effects in the intro. It's so awful!
