This past summer, I took 13 credits, 9 with a study abroad program and 4 for Calculus 2 at a community college. I took Calc 2 at the community college because my university did not offer a course that would end before I left for my study abroad trip. I received an A in the class and attempted to transfer the credit into my university this fall. The math department considers the Calculus 2 course at this community college equivalent, however the credit did not transfer due to the fact that the maximum number of credits a student can receive during the summer is 12, a limitation of which I was unaware. My question is this: on AMCAS, should I make a point to note that the course is equivalent, also showing that I was mildly inattentive to university policy or just let it be? I know this is a pretty small issue, just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks.

I don't think it matters either way, but if there is a place on AMCAS to mention it, it wouldn't do any harm. Were you taking it to show that you have proficiency in calculus after, say, getting a C in calc 1? In that case, I'd definitely try to make note of it somewhere (but not in your personal statement, if that's the only place to do so. I can't remember there was a place to make that kind of note).

If you didn't do badly in another lower level math class, then if you don't make note of the transfer issue, med schools will probably just assume it was cheaper or more convenient for you to take it at the community college over the summer, which won't hurt you. They just won't look at the A as as difficult of an A.

Finally, I don't think that explaining the transfer issue will make you look bad/ignorant of your school's transfer policy. For all anyone else knows, you knew about the 12 credit limit but wanted to take the calc class anyway!
