I hosted some international people for fun recently, and realized how much I love to be free and travel also.

This spiked a worry in me, and I am scared of the commitment of being tied down to one place for the next four years. However, I do not have doubts, and I know that medical school is the next step for me.

How did you guys get over the commitment fear? I know some people will post and say "well, I had no fear!" If that's so, then give advice rather than that statement.

And... I have a friend doing well in their third year of medical school, and every break/holiday they get, they fly off to Europe... do med students really have the time for that or is my friend a special case?

Thanks. :xf:

True, but think about it this way: you are receiving a degree that is internationally recognized and accepted around the world. Every country has a need for competent, well-trained doctors and if you wanted to you could pick up and move anywhere and eventually practice. To be honest though, you'll be way more "stuck" during internship/residency than you ever were during med school.

From what I have heard, people have time between first and 2nd year for a vacation and again during 4th year. So you'll definitely have a few opportunities to travel/vacation during medical school.

Thanks Raf, that lifted some worry off of me.
By the way, congratulations on your acceptance into med school.
