My MCAT is expired and was told that it is sub-par (9-9-9-P) this year (from 2002) so I have to retake it while I am applying this year.

I am going to EVMS SMP in the fall. The registration packet says they will send more info about a mandatory Aug 15 Orientation at a later date. I would assume classes begin that same week.
I originally thought the MCAT was on the 13th of August, and have been studying as such. But when I registered today I found out its on the 20th.
If classes begin- how can I take the MCAT one week into the program. Isn't this going to screw me? :scared:

If I start SMP classes on the 16th, studying and normal class routine,(friday would HAVE to be out)- my stress levels and routine will be all screwed for the MCAT! But If I don't start studying and going to class- i'll be one week behind. Already one weekend behind because I'll be dead sat and useless on sunday. Ohhhh man. What do i do? Wooooe is me. 🙁

Anyone else doing the same/similar thing?

I don't think you should worry about it too much. The first week or so at any med school is usually a lot of orientation and social engagements. They usually don't hit you with hard core material until the second week. Actually, the faculty and staff at EVMS like to ease their students into things, and students there tend to have an easier transition than do students at other med schools. I know this because I am on their MD waitlist (fingers crossed!) and have learned a lot about the school, curriculum, etc. You may have to skip out on some of the parties and other social stuff in order to focus on the MCAT, but that shouldn't be a big deal.
