Hello,

I've been mostly a quite stalker of the forums, and firstly I would like to offer my appreciations for the community.

This was my first DPT application cycle and I had applied to 8 programs, mostly spread through the east and Midwest region. I interviewed with Marymount and have placed on their waitlist, and I have yet to hear from stony brook university (applied for Feb interview date and haven't heard back yet).

The application process has been enlightening and I realize my cumulative U-GPA is my biggest Achilles heal (PTCAS: 2.7ish) and pre-req at 3.7. I graduated with Bach in Biology w/ minor in Chemistry, and until now I hadn't considered necessity of addressing my GPA directly. Rather, always assumed my other work in PT field (minor research post bachelor, observation hours, GRE, etc) would help me present my case of GPA being an aberration of my academic capabilities.

Alas, It appears I will have to raise my GPA and once again, thanks to this forum, I am considering completing SMP/Post-Grad program. Also, I recently received a letter from Midwestern Univ. at Illinois (they had rejected my DPT application), encouraging me to pursue a 9 month Masters program at their university to provide better forseight of my academic abilities.

TL;DR: My question is how do PT programs look at success at SMP/P-G programs as a supplement to low u-GPA? Will I be "docked points" for SMP/P-G or will it help boost my credibility?

Has anyone on the board completed this program? If so, how benefitial has it been for DPT application? Are any "perfect-fit" programs designed for DPT school?
