SMP outlook/help
After taking a long, hard look at my undergraduate cGPA of 3.2 and sGPA of 3.1 at a decent state school with a strong upward trend- 3.7 in last 45 credits. I decided to complete an SMP program. I completed the program with a 3.8 GPA. The courses were just like first year medical physiology and pathophys. The same school has a med program that it T30. Classes are taught by the same faculty.
I was originally going to only apply to in-state schools but I don’t think that’s a good idea. My last MCAT was 2 years ago and was low 490s. I know I can do better than that because of my peformance in the smp w material which was much harder.
With a 510+ MCAT what would be my odds of mid-higher tier? Or should I just save the heartache and apply to
lower tier? Rural applicant with proven commitment to serving rural communities.
Not against DO by any means but if I have the chance, I am going to make the most of it. Any comments are welcome.
