So I have a 29Q MCAT. My understanding is that MD schools want a 30+. So let's say I were to do a program like drexel ims or vcu cert and did well. Is there a strong possibility I would still not get into their medical schools because of my mcat?

I'd say finish the program and then retake in june or so. Assuming you're low gpa, you need to be hitting 31+ on you're mcat AND doing really well in your program to be a competitive applicant.

Nah 29 is fine. You can get into med school after an smp with that score. Ignore the type A personalities. I know a good amount of people who got in with a 29 and lower scores and yes some were in a masters. Honestly the risk to benefit of retaking a score like that is very high. Keep it.

Also your MCAT is more of a cut off minimum then anything else , however it would give you an edge over others if you were to retake and get a 32. Get yourself an MSAR and just make sure you are within the schools range and you will be fine. Smps are not about making you competitive but more about proving you have what it takes to be safely admitted to med school

You can get in with a 29 if all your other ducks are in a row. But not if they aren't. So until the OP tells us more about the rest of the app - a 29 should be treated as "maybe ok".

While this is true i address statements as is. If the OP gives more information we can give further advice. However if the op has failed to get the proper shadowing and clinical experience he would be screwed even if he had a 40 mcat
